VOTE WITH YOUR FEET FOR MODEL RAILWAY FUN

Sick of politicians’ promises, robocalls and unending advertisements?

If you live in or are visiting the Hunter Valley, once you’ve done your national duty next weekend, why not vote with your feet and enjoy a little fun at the Richmond Vale Railway Museum’s annual model railway exhibition.

The exhibition will be open for viewing on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 May.

“This annual event is the only model railway show in NSW where your entry fee entitles you to unlimited rides on a full-sized train as part of your day out,” said Peter Meddows, museum chairman.

“The show will incorporate operating layouts in all scales from the tiny N scale to the very large G scale, with prototypes from Australia as well as international models.”

“In addition, there will be a display of rare historic model trains made in Australia as a result of import restrictions during World War II.”

Other attractions at the exhibition will include retail stalls for new and secondhand models and a repair service for children’s Thomas the Tank Engine toys.

The museum also offers displays related to the history of the mining industry and industrial railways of the Hunter Region which are available for viewing throughout the exhibition.

The museum canteen will operate throughout the weekend offering snacks and drinks both hot and cold. The souvenir shop will also be open throughout the weekend.

The Richmond Vale Railway Museum is located at 262 Leggetts Drive Richmond Vale, approximately 4 km south of the Kurri Kurri town centre. The gates open at 9.30am each day. Entry fees are $16.00 adults, $11.00 concession, $7.50 children 5-15, under 5 free.
