CRANKY HANDLES RETURN TO RVRM

Aug 18, 2022 by

August means it’s time for vintage machinery enthusiasts to head to the Richmond Vale Railway Museum for the fifth annual Cranky Handle Rally, to be held on the third weekend of August (August 20-21  2022). The Hunter Valley Vintage Farm Machinery Club hosts the annual rally, which is a demonstration of all things old to do with early farm machinery with a focus on old stationary engines and farm tractors.

“From vintage tractors to small farm or domestic implements, the rally is all about machinery before the electronic era,” said Scott Brooks, spokesman for the club.

“Our exhibitors have spent many hours preparing their machines for display and will be happy to share their knowledge with visitors.”

“You may even get a chance to go on a ride on a tractor operating on the day.”

“Whether you’re interested in hand-operated domestic machinery, petrol-powered tractors or steam-driven farm machinery, there’s something in the rally for you,” he said.

“For the ladies there will be an operating display of vintage sewing machines making bags and other small items.”

This is a combined event with the Richmond Vale Railway Museum.

“We’re delighted to collaborate with the Richmond Vale Railway Museum,” said Mr Brooks.

“Their bushland site is the ideal location for an event such as this, and the family atmosphere adds to the quality of the show.”

“Full-sized and miniature train rides are included in the entry fee, along with the ability to visit the onsite mining museum.”

“All-in-all it’s a great day out.”

The rally is scheduled for the Richmond Vale Historic Railway site on the 20TH-21ST August 2021.  The site is located at 262 Leggetts Drive, Richmond Vale, about 5km south of Kurri Kurri.

Food, tea, coffee and soft drinks are available for purchase on site, so you can make a day of it without going hungry.

Cost to enter is $16.00 for adults, $11.00 for concession and $7.50 for children between the ages of 5 and 15, with children under 5 granted free entry.
